Dr. John Yassin, the first fellowship trained oculoplastic surgeon in the D.C. area, has been practicing here for over thirty years. He is the former Director of Oculoplastic Surgery at Georgetown University and a consultant to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He has trained many residents and fellows and is a fellow of The American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

He is active in multiple local and national professional societies and has earned an Honor Award from The American Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as the Vicennial Medal from Georgetown University.

He has contributed to numerous books and given many papers on Ophthalmology and Oculoplastic Surgery. A retired Air Force Colonel and flight surgeon, he was last assigned as Chief of Ophthalmology at Malcolm Grow Hospital at Andrews Air Force Base.
