Cataract Surgery
The word Cataract is used to describe a natural “crystalline lens” that has turned cloudy. Cataracts are not a disease, but rather a condition affecting the eye. In the United States, the incidence of age-related Cataract has been reported to be approximately 42% in those aged 52 to 64, 60% in those aged 65 to 74 and 91% in those aged 75 to 85.
LASIK
Laser Vision Correction is eye surgery to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. LASIK, or “lamellar eye surgery”, is performed between the layers of corneal tissue; the cornea is reshaped using laser technology for light rays to be focused in a crisp image, minimizing the need for an optical prescription.
Cornea Collagen Cross-linking
Corneal Collagen Cross-linking is an in-office surgical procedure for eyes that have been damaged by keratoconus. Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking is performed by applying a liquid riboflavin (Vitamin B2) to the surface of the eye, followed by treatment with a controlled ultraviolet light.
